Viral Video can Work for B2B Too!

One of the questions I get most often is does Social Media Marketing work for B2B companies? There are a lot of very successful B2C examples from Ford to Comcast to Zappos. But when it comes to B2B, the use and success of Social Media Marketing is still being tested and proven. Well, for those who wonder about if viral video would work in a B2B setting allow me to introduce, “A Special Valentine’s Day Gift…from Cisco!” This was a low cost video (developed by Ridiculous Media) and promoted only using social media channels including YouTube, Twitter, Blogs and Digg and since it’s posting on January 29th (and most promotions starting the next day) there are already 25,192 views to this funny yet informative video.     there is no such thing as “viral videos”. It’s a figment of the enterprise’s imagination…

    Unfortunately, there isn’t a repeatable process that you can follow to make something cool enough that people want to share with their friends. But when it happens, when there is something about it that people want to pass along and share, that’s what I call viral, and in this case it was a video (which now has 29,361 views). If that’s my imagination don’t ruin it for me!
